Precautions Before Taking Doxycycline:

Let your Doctor know your medical history. Never go for the treatment of Doxycycline, if you are allergic to Doxycycline, Demeclocycline, Tetracycline, or Minocycline.

Let your Doctor know if you have Liver or Kidney diseases, hernia, heartburn, or Gerd. Your Doctor may adjust your dose depending upon the condition.

If you have asthma or if you are allergic to sulfites, let your Doctor know before using Doxycycline Syrup.

If you are using Doxycycline for gonorrhea, you have to get yourself lab tested for syphilis or any other sexual diseases and let your Doctor know.

As Doxycycline can cause harm to unborn child, do not use Doxycycline without Doctor’s permission if you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant. As Doxycycline makes birth control pills ineffective, use another treatment to prevent pregnancy.

As Doxycycline causes permanent tooth discoloration and affects child growth, never give Doxycycline to children younger than 8 years.

Doxycycline may cause diarrhea that is another sign of infection. Don’t use any medicine to cure Diarrhea. Consult your Doctor immediately.

As Doxycycline makes your skin more sensitive to sunlight, so avoid exposing yourself to sunlight or any kind of Ultra violet rays such as Sunlamps or tanning beds.

Be aware that Multi-vitamins, Iron Products, Laxatives, Calcium supplements dilute the effects of Doxycycline. So use Doxycycline before or after two hours.

Let your surgeon know if you are under Doxycycline treatment and going for surgery.

Doxycycline may be used to treat malaria. But Doxycycline may not give full protection. You have to take other protective measures also.
