How Should I Take Doxycycline ?

Doxycycline is an oral therapy available in the form of regular and coated capsule, Doxycycline tablet, Syrup, and suspension. Take Doxycycline with a full glass of water at least one hour before or two hours after the food. Swallow the pill whole. Do not crush, break, or open the pill. Never take Doxycycline with milk or any dairy products items, as dairy products make it harder to absorb the medicine. However there are certain brands, which don’t restrict to take them with milk or dairy products. If your Doctor has prescribed to take it with milk, then tell your Pharmacist to give you the brand that can be taken with milk.

Take doxycycline exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label. If you are using liquid, shake it well before use. Never quit if your symptoms get better before the treatment is completed.

Doxycycline will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu.
